Family Workshops and Retreats
The Family Restored Support Group stresses the importance of family members actively engaging in their own recovery. Often times, families are so focused on the chaos of their loved one’s addiction, they neglect their own self-care. We believe that regardless of how your loved one is doing, you can live a fulfilled life. The Family Restored offers retreats and workshops that focus on families and what they need.
12-Step Workshops for Families
The Family Restored highly encourages a 12- step experience aimed at solving the loved one’s way of responding to their family member who is struggling with addiction. We believe this can be one of the key components to a recovered life as a family member or loved one.
Our 12 Step Workshop for family members is a 4 week series held twice a year in the Spring and the Fall. Family members are taken through the book of Alcoholics Anonymous by people in long-term recovery. In this workshop, participants are able to start working steps themselves.
The 12 steps provide a structured approach to overcoming recurring issues in your life, particularly addiction. This program has been vital for those in recovery and can benefit anyone facing addictive challenges.
For loved ones affected by addiction, the 12 steps offer a way to take constructive action, break unhelpful interaction patterns, and regain control of your own life. They address the pain and frustration of loving someone with addiction while fostering personal growth and resilience.
Importantly, the 12 steps are not a religious program. You don’t need to believe in God or have faith when you start—just a willingness to try. In facing your own powerlessness over your loved one’s addiction, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Family Retreats
The Family Restored initiated a family retreat in 2021 for families to have a chance to connect with one another and bring the focus back to their own well being. We saw that just as those in early recovery benefit from community, families can as well and we wanted to provide a space that offered peace and fellowship. Retreats are open to family members who have loved ones that are struggling with addiction, and who may regularly attend family support groups.
Activities
Retreats are held once a year in New England during the warmer months and include activities such as: group meetings of different topics, yoga, meditation, walks, time to sit with nature, journal prompts and sharing meals with one another.
Who can join?
Any family member affected by a loved one’s addiction, no matter where they are in their recovery.
