Jeff Cavanaugh

Jeff Cavanaugh of Topsfield, MA passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2020 at the age of 40, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 31,1979 in Leominster, MA, he was the son of Sally (Keenan) Treantos and the late Michael Cavanaugh, lovingly raised by his mother and step-father, Gregory Treantos. Jeff was a graduate of Masconomet Regional High School and received numerous certifications in carpentry. He went on to work as an accomplished carpenter for the next fifteen years and for the past five years was owner of JC Remodeling.

Jeff is predeceased by his grandparents Edward E. and Jean (Fraser) Keenan. In addition to his parents, Jeff is survived by his sister, Stacie (Cavanaugh) Allen and her husband Nick, brother Christopher Treantos and his wife Stephanie, brother Bob Joyce and his wife Jill, niece Cleo, nephews Wyatt, Evan, Andrew and Jacob, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeff also leaves behind his former companion, Dianna Radzinski and her two children Timothy and Harrison.

When Jeff was not working, he enjoyed being with his family, friends and rescue dog Pepper. He loved spending time outdoors whether it be fishing, hiking, walking his dog or watching sports. He was a diehard Boston sports and MMA fan, and loved animals. Jeff was a kind, compassionate and caring person who was always looking out for others. Whether it be helping his parents take care of something at home, raising friends up out of tough situations, advocating for his construction clients, buying his niece and nephews the best Christmas gifts or even helping a turtle to safely cross the road, Jeff’s thoughtfulness and kindness shined through each day. He loved to make people laugh while also being reserved. He never liked a crowd but thrived in his personal connections. Jeff was a talented carpenter, loved by his clients and co-workers.

Jeff was also quick to lend a hand to those struggling with addiction. Although Jeff’s life was lost to substances after ten years of sobriety, he lived an honorable life, spent loving, laughing, and giving of himself freely to helping anyone in need. His family hopes that his life and legacy will help to raise awareness and encourages anyone struggling with addiction to reach out.

While life won’t be the same without Jeff, his family and friends take deep comfort knowing Jeff was able to give many gifts of life through organ donation. He will continue to live on through others due to his heroic generosity.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to the Family Restored.
