Rachel Solomon

Program Director

Rachel moved to Portland, ME in 2014 to pursue recovery in the 12-steps. She first heard about the Family Restored through the memorial 5k walk. This event felt important to be a part of to honor all people who have passed away from addiction and to honor her sister, Cindy, who passed in 2012. She has been volunteering with TFR since the beginning of her recovery, joining the board in 2020 and then the organization as a full time staff person in 2022. Working with women in recovery and supporting family members has become one of the greatest gifts given to her by the 12-steps.

Rachel has been a teacher in many different senses in her recovery, from teaching steps and mindfulness to adults in treatment, nature based education to children, to wellness practices to family members affected by addiction. One of her favorite roles in the organization is planning and facilitating our annual retreats where she gets to put all of these different works to use. Nature and mindfulness are an essential part of her recovery and she strives to help others build that connection. When not at work she is hiking somewhere with her dog, Butch.
